I met my brother, Aaron, in Southeast Asia and we travelled through Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam together. Our experience was that of contrasts: the countries are full of friendly people and cultural heritage, but are recovering from a brutal and monstrous recent history. I have been affected by the energy of life and the optimism growing in this regional community, but I also come away with sadness caused from the inhumanity that is in your face as you travel through this area of the world.

I flew up to Cairns to do a 3-day live aboard boat trip on the Great Barrier Reef, during which time; I got my Advanced Diver certification and did 10 dives out on the reef.

For the long Easter Weekend I flew up to Sydney to go on a camping trip with my close mates. We drove 4 hours north to a great stretch of coast for some surfing in one of my favourite national parks, Myall Lakes. There was torrential rain all weekend, which made for an interesting time huddled under tarps, drinking beers and eating odd combinations of food, since we couldn't do any outdoor cooking. But during the day, we had fine weather spells, which allowed us to enjoy the fantastic environment in this beautiful area of Australia.

For Christmas and New Years I put together a 4WD trip to South Australia for my flatmates and a friend. We started in Adelaide and then headed to the Barossa Valley to sample some of Australia's finest wines. We then boarded a ferry that crossed the Spencer Gulf to the Eyre Peninsula, a remote and little travelled area of Australia. We camped, 4WDrove and fished our way along the coast until we settled down in a tiny fishing town of Venus Bay for a few days. I had the chance to swim with Sea Lions before making the exhausting drive back to Adelaide, where we welcomed in the New Year.

For one of my subjects at University I enrolled in an Urban Design studio that went to Yogyakarta, Indonesia to study the urban structure of the kampung (slum). The urban village, which we studied, was very interesting and the people were extremely dynamic. We also had a chance to do some site seeing around central Java. Lastly, we spent a few days in Bali.

One of my close friends from my hometown came out to visit me and we did a 4WD trip together along with one of his friends and 2 more of my friends from Sydney. We went deep into the South Australian Outback to climb mountains, view galaxies through an astronomical observatory, learn from the Aborigines and experience some of the most dramatic landscapes you can find on Earth.

After having to leave Australia, I ended up teaching English in Masan, South Korea. At first, I wasn't quite sure why I was there, resulting in a serious case of culture shock. But by the end of my stay, I felt like I was falling in love with the country and never wanted to leave. The food, the people, the landscape of infinite mountains, and the ex-pats: everything in Korea contributes to such an excellent experience and way of life.

A bunch of my close Sydney friends and I decided to go on a trip up the Whitsunday coast, during the month of March. When we got there, we decided to go camping on the most beautiful beach in Australia, Whitehaven Beach.

After a fantastic New Year's Eve in Sydney, a few of my friends and I headed off to New Zealand for a full month of adventure in the sparsely populated South Island. Helicopter flights onto glaciers and into remote national parks, climbing hand-over-hand up snow-capped mountains, and swimming with endangered dolphins are just a few of the highlights of one of my most memorable trips I'll ever have.

For my last studio towards my Master of Landscape Architecture, I enrolled in a travelling studio, which took me to Genoa, Italy. Our project required us to analyse Genoa and its declining port. We eventually had to offer a design proposal that incorporated the port back into the urban centres. Although we spent 2 weeks working in the studio, we also had some time to play the tourist in Italy. And since we had to fly through Beijing on our way back to Australia, I took the opportunity to have a 4-day stopover in this sprawling capital to experience some of the grand sights of China.

When I left Australia, I decided to see Korea, since I had been teaching Korean adults English for the past year and a half in Sydney. I visited Busan and Seoul to see some of my x-students and had a great introduction to one of my favourite countries in the world.

While I was at UPenn, I applied for a study abroad program in Perth, Australia. Next thing I knew, I was on a flight over to a country, which I became curious about in second grade. And my experience was no disappointment. The semester I spent at University of Western Australia was one of the best times of my life. The friends I made, the parties, the bizarre classes I enrolled in, the surfing and the stunning Australian landscapes made it all such a dream. Not to mention, I got to see New Zealand and Fiji. After I came back from Australia the first time, I had changed dramatically and needed to travel and meet new people forever. Little did I know I was heading back to Australia again, and again and again.

Ever since I first came to Australia, I have been wanting to see the Pilbara, a little known, yet large region of Australia. I planned a 4WD adventure that took my brother, my friends and I to some of the most isolated areas on Earth. We got up close and personal with whale sharks and other sea creatures on the Nigaloo reef. We got to bask in the torquisoe pools at the bottom of Karajini's red gorges.

After returning from my study abroad experience in Western Australia, I ended up travelling back and forth to England over the next year and a half to visit my girlfriend at the time, who I had met while I was in Perth. These are a mixture of pictures from multiple trips.

Rachael and I set off through Mexico and into Central America. In Guatemala, we studied Spanish there for a while. Rachael returned back to England, while I moved on to see the rest of the countries in Central America. Staying with the Mayans in the cloud forests, Scuba diving the Blue Hole in Belize, jungle trekking in the Honduran Mosquito Coast, and surfing along the coasts of Nicaragua and Costa Rica are just a few of the highlights.

Back in 1996, I had lived on a Native American Reservation in South Dakota. The husband of the family I stayed with was from Tonga. Since I was heading back to Australia for Film School, I planned a stopover in Tonga. I was put in touch with my American friend’s Tongan family, who showed me around the island of Tonga tapu. I even got to fly to Vanuatu to stay with some extended family, which showed me around that beautiful island. It was a unique experience and I had met some brilliant people.

My mom and my brothers came to visit me after my first semester in Sydney. I had heard that the Kimberley in Western Australia still was a frontier, with hardly any paved roads, lots of gorges, ancient mountains and exotic vegetation. So I decided to plan a 4WD camping trip there. From the beautiful beaches of Broome, we headed along the Gibb River Road to see one of the most wild and uniquely beautiful regions of Australia.

My first year in Sydney was fantastic! I met so many cool friends and became acquainted with many wonderful places. This album holds pictures from short events throughout the year, while I was studying at University Technology, Sydney. Theme parties at University, Port Stephans, Camping in the Blue Mountains, Coffs Harbour for Christmas and a brilliant New Years Eve are a few of the occassions captured here.

For my mid-semester break I took the Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth to visit some old mates from my Study Abroad experience. The Indian Pacific is a train that crosses Australia from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. I stopped at a few places along the way, but I had a very unique experience when the train dropped me off in the middle of the desolate Nullarbor Plain to stay with a family that lived 500km from any town.

For my mid-semester break in October, I went to see the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. I actually was using this trip to record the sounds of Nature for my Creative Audio Techniques subject at UTS. For 4 days I hiked and camped along the Great Ocean Road, immersing myself in the sounds of Nature, the volatile elements of the Victorian Spring and the striking coastal environments of Cape Otway National Park and Port Campbell National Park. This was such a fulfilling experience.

I met a friend in Hobart and spent a week traveling around the island of Tasmania. We managed to see quite a bit, including Cradle Mountain, the Bay of Fires, Freycinet Peninsula and the Tasman Peninsula. We even had some fun creating some environmental art.

I met my dad in Turkey and we explored the wonderful city of Istanbul and the totally bizarre historical landscapes of Cappadocia. We then flew down to the Mediterranean Coast, where we met my brother Zach, and went sailing around the Turkish and Greek Islands. I then traveled by myself to far Eastern Turkey, to the heart of Kurdish country, to explore the borders with Iran, Armenia and Georgia. I was warned not to go there, but the people were amazing and the landscapes were like a fantasy. Turkey has such a wealth of natural beauty, culture, history and awesome food! See for yourself!
